I was giving the following speech during the the World Public Relations Forum in Stockholm the 15th of June 2010:
I´m a PR-consultant and entrepreneur at Tillväxtakademin, the growth Academy, a privately owned company. I´d like to share some thoughts with you about how to create a more personal leadership quality.
For almost 20 years I ran a PR-agency as its founder and CEO. I had ten consultants employeed working with public organizations, private companies as well as listed companies.
Today I am training people in expanding their personal leadership quality, including the skills of creating magic in each and every meeting. I am lucky to meet political leaders as well as business leaders in my work.
I love my work, but I do not like leaders talking mumbojumbo, or not knowing where to go and why. Where the world is heading today, dealing with economic, social and ecological sustainability, we need more of a personal leadership quality.
I want to se leaders with the strength and ability to include every client, every employee and every other person. Leaders with a caretaking image, able to within its business include a broader perspective.
I am talking about political leaders as well as business leaders and leaders of NGOs. I am also talking about teachers at childrens schools. And I am talking about you and me. We all are the leaders of our own lives.
A more personal leadership quality includes the ability to see and communicate the big picture: Why are we doing this, why are we here, how can I contribute?
We have an election this year in Sweden. I am sorry to say, but it is to seldom I am touched by the image of the political leaders, as I got touched by mr Marvin King during his speech yesterday. I got touched by how convinced he was, his charm and his ability to include you and me in his vision for a better world.
I want every leader tell us what they believe in, why they are here and how you and I can join them.
When Carl Henric Svanberg, chairman at Brittish Petroleum, attended his new job at Ericson Mobile Communication he got himself a reputation of being a communicative leader, listening to others and most important of all: he had the courage of practicing awareness wherever he was. The oil leeking in the Mexican Golf is a catastrophy. But it is way to early to blame mr Svanberg for all of this and I´m hoping the world will get a glimpse of his personal leadership quality.
Let me give you another example. Many people has criticized that president Obama got the peace-Nobelprize, before he even had proven anything. I think mr Obamas speech in Kairo proved his will to meet the world differently, to do things in another way, trying to neutralize tensed relationships between the US and other countries. Obama got the Nobelprize because he dared to show a personal leadership quality, speaking about what he wanted to achieve. He shared his personal values with the rest of the world, giving hopes to millions of people.
Maybe a more personal leadership quality has to do with pure love? Probably the opposite to the words: being afraid.
A more personal leadership quality includes: curiosity, personal engagement and honesty. What else is there to ask for, according to the leadership of the world?
A true leader is able to feel and give love, pure love.
I assume you have your own examples of brilliant leaders? Would you like to share them with me?
Together we will culture the art of creating a more personal leadership quality.
Tank you for your interest. Hope to se you all again. With love.

Hej Andrea!
